Claypits
At John James’ request, Amroth Community Council has kindly given us £100 towards the cost of the gates for the Claypits. The gates and posts have now been paid for and Malcolm has collected them. Gareth James (Glanrhyd Farm) will contact Malcolm about a date and time to install the double wooden gate. Roy has cleared some more of the overgrown and misshapen bushes and Sue will contact Mike Plumb to ask him to chip these. We will then drag them out on to the roadside just before he comes. The pond is filling well.

Old School Garden
Andy will forward photographs of members of the Community Association with the information board, notice board cabinet and benches to Jill; she will send them to PLANED, who would like them for a press release. Andy and Malcolm have made a start on thinning out the trees and there is now much more light over the raised flower bed. We will also collect these up so that Mike Plumb can chip them on the same day as the ones at the Claypits. A friend of Jill’s has kindly donated some large potted plants, some of which may be suitable for planting in the Garden.

We have £106.55 in our current account and £171.87 in our deposit account (a total of £278.42).

Walk Leader Training Course
John thanked Jill for organising this course, which was run on the afternoons of 4th and 11th February 2012 by Paul Morris, who is involved with the Steps to Health project. The course was excellent and enjoyed by all who attended; six members of the Community Association are now qualified to lead walks which do not involve steep hills. When the paperwork is completed, we will be covered via the Steps2Health insurance and Paul has provided us with a manual, health forms, risk assessment forms and registers etc.

Jill Simpson, who is covering for Kiri Howell (National Park Community Ranger) who is on maternity leave, will lead a walk from Bosherston after Easter. More details later.

This will be hosted by John Lewis-Tunster. More details later.

Any Other Business

1) Jill will arrange a visit to Stackpole Walled Gardens and we will also invite the Llanteg History Society and the Amroth History Group. More details later.

2) We also plan to visit the Tin Shed Experience in Laugharne in the summer, and possibly lead a walk there.

3) Amroth Jubilee Celebrations will run from Saturday 2nd until Monday 4th June and will include activities for children, a pig roast, stalls selling local crafts etc, a quiz, a fireworks display and a band.

4) A planning application has been submitted to Pembrokeshire County council for a temporary anemometer mast, 40 m high, to be erected in the field behind The Downs (Planning Application Number 11/1009/PA). If permission is granted, the mast will be there for up to 18 months and if conditions are found to be suitable, indications are that an application will be submitted for a wind turbine similar to the one that has already been erected on Crosslands Road, near Crunwere House. Genuine concern has been expressed from some members of the public regarding the possibility of further wind turbine developments in the area.

5) Some people in our area have a very slow Broadband speed and this problem was raised in the last Amroth Community Council meeting, the minutes of which are on the Llanteg Village website. Jill suggested that anyone interested in a solution to this problem should contact Pauline Davies (Secretary to the Community Council).

Walk Leader Course February 2012

This has been arranged by the Llanteg Community Association.

Claypits
Gareth James (Glanrhyd Farm) will contact Malcolm about a date and time to install the double wooden gate (a 10 ft wide gate for vehicular access and a 4 ft wide gate for pedestrians). The gate should be slightly set in, with post and rail fencing on to the hedge. This will allow a vehicle to pull off the road while the gate is opened. John James will ask Amroth Community Council if they would consider donating £100 towards the cost of this.

Old School Garden

Our share of the cost for the information board, notice board cabinet and benches for the Old School Garden is £179.40. PLANED have asked for photographs of the garden before and after the installation of these for a press release and it was agreed that members of the Community Association would assemble at the Old School Garden at 2 pm on Saturday 3rd December to take some photographs. Some of the trees need to be thinned out and Malcolm, John James and Andy will liaise with each other to do this before the start of the next bird nesting season (1st March). Malcolm will investigate the possibility of replacing the current garden gate with a galvanised self-closing one.

Walk Leader Training Course

Jill will contact Paul Morris, who is involved with the Steps to Health project, about the possibility of running a course in February/March 2012 to train people to lead walks.

Guided Walk, Sunday 30th October, 2-4 pm
This was led by Kiri Howell (National Park Community Ranger) and was well-attended. It was very much enjoyed by all and our thanks go to Kiri for a very interesting afternoon. John has given Ruth Roberts a report of the walk for the Tenby Observer and for the next Llanteg Newsletter

Claypits

Malcolm has obtained costings from Reynolds Fencing (Llandewi Velfrey) for a double wooden gate (a 10 ft wide gate for vehicular access and a 4 ft wide gate for pedestrians), plus posts, hinges and latches. We hope to put the gates up either this month or next and Malcolm will contact Gareth James (Glanrhyd Farm) to ask him for a date and time when he will be able to dig the holes for the gate posts. The total cost of purchasing and installing the gates will be within our estimated budget of £250.

The pond has now filled up well. This will be fenced off at a later date, probably using post and rail fencing, perhaps with additional stock proof wire fencing and Amroth Community Council, the owners of the land, will be informed about this.

The hedge alongside the Stony Road needs to be cut before the bird nesting season starts. We may need a bench at the Claypits at a later date (or possibly borrow one from the Old School Garden).

Old School Garden

The information board has now been installed and it outlines the history of the Old School Garden. Jill will contact PLANED because she has not yet received an invoice for our 10% share of the cost for this and for the benches for the garden.

Andy and Malcolm will strim the grass and will apply glyphosate to kill the weeds on the paths when the weather is suitable. They will also thin out the trees in due course. Jeanne and Ruth will weed the raised bed this week (weather permitting!)
Walk Leader Training Course

If some of us attended this, we would be able to lead walks ourselves and would be insured via Steps to Health. Several people had other commitments for the November dates that he suggested so Jill will ask him if he will suggest some dates (Saturday or Sunday afternoons) after Christmas.

Forthcoming Events

Guided Walk, Sunday 30th October, 2-4 pm – Kiri Howell (National Park Community Ranger) will lead a walk (approximately 2 miles) from Blackpool Mill, Canaston Bridge. The walk will start from Blackpool Mill (parking in the Forestry Commission car park, just south of Blackpool Mill itself – first car park on the right after the Mill). All welcome.

Murder Mystery – Saturday 19th November, 7.30 pm, tickets £6 each (organised by Llanteg Village Hall Committee). A light buffet supper will be provided and please bring their own drinks.

Community Carol Service – (afternoon of Sunday 4th or 11th December, date to be confirmed). Joyce Lewis has kindly agreed to play the organ. Claypits

Driftwood (Pentlepoir) has quoted to make and install a double wooden gate consisting of a smaller section which would allow pedestrian access and a wider section to enable vehicles to access the site for maintenance. Driftwood will also quote for providing bird and bat boxes. Malcolm has obtained a quote for a similar gate from Reynolds Fencing (Llanddewi Velfrey). He will also ask Gareth James (Glanrhyd Farm) to quote for digging the holes for the gate posts. On this basis, it was estimated that the cost of buying and installing a double wooden gate (a 10 ft wide gate for vehicular access and a 4 ft wide gate for pedestrians) would be approximately £250. It was agreed that we should adopt the cheaper option and the intention is to install the gates in October or November of this year.

The pond is starting to fill now. This will be fenced off at a later date and Amroth Community Council, the owners of the land, will be informed about this.

Old School Garden

PLANED has given permission for us to use Signspeed (Cresselly) to produce the information board for the Old School Garden and Jill is still waiting for Signspeed to contact her about making the board. When the board is installed, Jill will contact Jessica Morgan (PLANED) about taking photographs of it.

Andy and Ruth will compile information and photographs of some of the plants, animals and birds that live in or near the garden and put this in the notice board cabinet for visitors to see.

Malcolm has strimmed round the seats but more maintenance work will need to be done in September, including thinning out the trees. Jeanne and Ruth will weed the flower bed again when time and the weather permit.

John agreed to chair the committee but emphasised that this was to be his last year in the post so we will have to consider someone else next year. Sue expressed the appreciation of the whole committee for the work that John has been doing as Chairman and said that since he took on this role, progress at the Old School Garden and the Claypits has been made in leaps and bounds under his leadership.

Claypits
Gareth James (Glanrhyd Farm, Tavernspite) has been paid £99.60 for his work there (see minutes of the meeting held on 9th May 2011).

Old School Garden
PLANED has given permission for us to use Signspeed (Cresselly) to produce the information board for the Old School Garden at a cost of about £800 (of which we will pay 10%).This will mean that the appearance of all the information boards in the village will be consistent. Jill is in the process of contacting Jessica Morgan (PLANED) to ask her to sign the quote from Signspeed and to authorise payment to Driftwood for the notice board cabinet that has been installed in the garden. This cost £540, of which we will pay £54.
It was agreed that Andy and Ruth will compile information and photographs of some of the plants, animals and birds that live in or near the garden and put this in the notice board cabinet for visitors to see. Various species were suggested.
In May, Jeanne and Ruth spent £34 (funded by PLANED) on plants (mostly perennials) from Crofty Nurseries (Llanteg) and planted them in the raised flower bed. John thanked them for doing this. When the weather improves, they will weed the flower bed again and Malcolm, John and Andy will strim the overgrown areas.

Treasurer’s Report
We have £135.81 in our current account and £517.67 in our deposit account (total £653.48). We owe PLANED approximately £200 for items for the Old School Garden (£10 for the two-seater bench, (30 for the two picnic benches, £54 for the notice board cabinet, £80-£100 for the information board and £10 for repairing the willow sculpture).

a) East Williamston, Saturday 25th June, 1 pm (weather permitting).
b) Kilgetty. Any Tuesday morning will suit the volunteers there. Jill will suggest Tuesday 5th July, 10 am.

Claypits
PLANED has recommended that we should approach the National Lottery for funding for this project. Gareth James (Glanrhyd Farm, Tavernspite) has dug a hole for a pond, cleared the undergrowth from around this area and has cut out some steps leading from the upper to the lower level of the site. Hopefully, the pond will now fill up with water because the water table there is high. If it does so, we may need to fence round it for safety reasons. No more clearing can be done this year until the end of the nesting season.
The grass seed that John James sowed on the upper section last autumn has taken well. It was suggested that benches for this area could be made from wooden planks attached to large sections of tree trunks.
Jill is waiting for Driftwood (Pentlepoir) to provide a quotation for building a double gate consisting of a smaller section which would allow pedestrian access and a wider section to enable vehicles to access the site for maintenance. Driftwood will also quote for providing bird and bat boxes.

Old School Garden
Fifteen people attended the Do-it-Yourself Family Barbeque on Easter Sunday (24th April). The weather was good (albeit rather chilly by the end) and it was enjoyed by all.
The cost of repairing the willow structure was £100, of which 90% has been paid for by PLANED and 10% by ourselves. Signspeed (Cresselly) has provided the information board for the Mountain Chapel and is in the process of preparing one in the same style for the Village Hall. Therefore, in the order to keep the appearance of all the information boards in the village consistent, Jill will ask PLANED if Signspeed can be asked to do the one for the Old School Garden, rather than having to obtain quotes from other companies as well.
John, Malcolm and Andy will strim the area to tidy it up and Jeanne and Ruth will buy some plants from Crofty Nurseries for the raised flower bed.

The work was done by Community Association volunteers and with the plants being kindly supplied by Crofty Nursery, Llanteg.

Quiz and Bingo Evening - February 2010

A Quiz and Bingo event was held at Llanteg Village Hall on 27th February 2010. It proved to be a very pleasant evening with nearly forty attending from the local community and further afield. In charge of the bingo and quiz-master for the evening was John Lewis-Tunster from Llanteg, who provided some very searching questions for the quiz.
Very grateful thanks must go to members of the Llanteg Community Association for providing a splendid variety of refreshments and prizes for the winning quiz team, bingo and raffle.
Funds raised on the night will go towards Llanteg Community Association’s projects during the year.

You then use their search facility whenever you make a purchase online, and a small amount is donated to Community funds.

The Claypits

A further project recently commenced is the clearance of an area approximately 1 acre and known locally as The Claypits which is located on the corner near to Mountain Chapel and which runs east alongside of the A477. Its historical significance is that in bygone days the people of the parish were allowed to remove stones for road repairs and also clay which was used fordomestic fires (being mixed with coal dust to make balls which kept the fire alightovernight). Both activities ceased many years ago and the area has become virtually inaccessible.
The first objective is to clear the excess growth and ultimately make it an attractive and accessible community area where its historical contribution can be reflected upon and the natural surroundings and wild-life appreciated and enjoyed by all.
A lot of work remains to be done, not only clearance but also to level the ground with suitable material such as sub and top soil—which people in the community may wish to donate in due course. We are not at that stage yet but further information will be published when this material is required. Suggestions to enhance this community area would be most welcome.

May 2007
This is an overgrown strip of public land opposite the entrance to Crofty Nursery. It is proposed that it be cleared for use by the village - but first a site inspection is required to ascertain whether there are any building remains or graves from the old chapel that once stood in the vicinity (this was from around the early 1900s to 1889 when the then Mountain Chapel was built).
This task is being co-ordinated by members of the Community Association and will involve both an archaeological and environmental study with the aid of PLANED.

July 2009 - Just passed last night and saw what a fantastic job the Community Association

have been doing of levelling off the first section of the old Claypits.
As you can see from the first set of pictures it really is a transformation.
When all the work is eventually finished it will be a great community area.

Walk and Talk May 2010

Who can remember the song ‘These Boots Were Made For Walking’? Was it Sandie Shaw, Dusty Springfield or maybe someone else? Anyway the reason that melody came to mind was solely because of the ‘Walk and Talk’ arranged by Llanteg Community Association in conjunction with Kiri Howell, Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Community Ranger, on Monday 3rd May 2010.
What a splendid occasion it turned out to be. We assembled at the Stepaside Heritage car park under the watchful eye of Kiri. Over forty in number, ranging from young to old, like myself, or perhaps I’ll change that to elderly!!
The weather and the ‘historical presence’ lead us to believe we were in for a very enjoyable and enlightening adventure. What a remarkable factual account from Kiri about the Iron Works. I found it easy and compelling to visualise the great throng of activity in the latter part of the 19th century with probably hundreds of active participants in the workforce.

We left the Iron Works after a group photograph taken by Bob Cole who, very skilfully, appeared in the photograph himself!! Our group then proceeded along the old tramway where once horses and then locomotives hauled the iron and coal products towards Wisemans Bridge and Saundersfoot, to continue their journey for a destiny beyond our shores. The tram lines now long disappeared, but again the power of thought could so easily recall the toil and graft of a bygone age.
We edged closer to Wisemans Bridge with Kiri stopping at strategic points to explain wildlife habitat and ‘tell tale’ signs of the different species, from otters to blue-tits and buzzards. The sun was so very welcome, yet also provided an excuse, if any were needed, for indulging in a ‘whippy 99’ ice-cream at Wisemans Bridge—simply delicious!! We then proceeded up a gradual yet testing incline in the direction of Sardis, negotiating stiles, avoiding nettles, and the occasional ‘cow pat’.

Again Bob, with camera at the ready, took a superb view of the Gower and beyond towards the Devon coast.
We were like a happy band of nomads, and, for a while, not a vehicle in sight, only the gentle breeze, the warm sun and excellent company. We stopped at Sardis Chapel, a pretty and historic building with graveyard reminders of local Iron Work memorials erected during the 19th century.

The conclusion of the walk took us past the previous workings of Grove Colliery and onto the lime kilns whilst Kiri provided an accomplished running commentary of the historical significance of this beautiful area. We emerged back where we had started some two hours previously and after a distance of about three and a half miles.
All agreed it was a wonderful occasion, with many thanks to Kiri for helping so successfully to increase our knowledge of ‘history on our doorsteps’. How refreshing it was just to walk at leisure, make new friends and, for a time, escape the hustle of the present day which is dictated so often by the hurried motor-driven pace of modern life. But then would we change it for those who toiled so relentlessly in places like the Iron Works of the 19th century? Maybe not!!

WALK andTALK - Llanteg – Amroth – Colby – Llanteg
With Kiri Howell – Pembrokeshire Coast Community Ranger.

On Saturday 2nd August, 2009 Llanteg Community Association, arranged a 'Walk & Talk' social event which commenced at 11.00 a.m. from the 'Old School Garden' Llanteg. Members of the association were joined by other members of the community during the walk which proved to be very enjoyable, relaxing and informative.
The pleasant weather added to the occasion with Kiri Howell, Pembrokeshire National Park Community Ranger, providing an excellent summary during the walk with her very enthusiastic guidance. The walk progressed through Llanteg to Trellessey Road and along Factory Lane to Amroth. The 'clog' industry and indications of a possible Roman involvement some distance away were amongst the fascinating details explained by Kiri. After a brief stay in Amroth for refreshments, the walkers (now approaching 20 in numbers) returned to Llanteg via Colby Gardens.
All who were involved agreed the walk was not only a valuable social occasion but it also provided an opportunity to test, and hopefully improve, physical endurance and to look at parts of our local area on foot at a more leisurely pace then we are familiar with.

Easter 2009, 16 and 17th April - Youth Workshops

Llanteg Community Association held a successful two-day environmental youth workshop last week at the village’s old school gardens. Seventeen young people attended the willow sculpture, birdbox making and weaving workshops which were all very productive.

Proud of their carpentry skills in making these bird boxes are Callum, Ross, Tom, Jess, Emily, Elspeth, Joe, Dylan and tutor Caz Phillips.

Community Carol Service December 2007

Sunday 16th December 2007 - 3pm

This had been planned to be held in the Old School Gardens, Llanteg, but was changed to the Village Hall due to the very cold and damp weather. Organisd by the Community Association, we were pleased to have a full hall and also younger members of the community present. Rev'd Sarah Geach conducted the Service, which had the musical and singing accompaniment of Jill and Arthur Ray.
Interspersed with readings, we sang many well loved carols and enjoyed hearing the children singing Away in a Manger. Audrey James also did a solo for us of In The Bleak Midwinter. The candles on the Advent Wreath were lit by the children.

Rev'd Geach gave us 'A Reflection on Christmas' and John James thanked everyone. Afterwards everyone tucked into mince pies and a warming cup or tea before bidding each other 'Merry Christmas'.

Thanks to the Community Association members for putting on the event, to Rev'd Geach for conducting the event and to Jill and Arthur for helping the sing along.

The trees have been thinned out and a mulcher came on 20th November to chip the pruned wood. Hire of the mulcher has been paid for under an EU scheme.

DIY B.B.Q. 28th September 2007

As a result of the project above a DIY/ Cook it Yourself B.B.Q was held in the garden, on Friday 28th September from 5.00 pm onwards. The items made by the children over the two days were there for all to see, as was a display of photographs that people could view and order. The weather was kind to us - a lovely sunny evening for late September. There were lots of B.B.Q's and lots of smoke, but luckily there was a light breeze to carry it away!

We stayed from 5pm to about 7.30 - the time flew with cooking and chatting. Its lovely to have an outdoor area where we can have these get-togethers and perhaps more can be done next year here through the summer months.
The two totems had been waxed again and looked even better than before.

Well done to those of the Association who organised the photographs, B.B.Qs, seating, extra food, tables and chairs. Also thanks to Peter for providing music and to Teresa and Calvin for laying on water.
By the time we were leaving it was getting quite dark - going home I gave three rabbits quite a scare in Stoney Road!

Youth Workshops 30 and 31st Aug 2007

The two days went off very well - weather good most of the time and the activities seemed to have been enjoyed by all.
There are now lots of lovely birdboxes scattered around plus an interesting bug box.

The woven 'igloo' is great and should improve with age - also the woven 'seats' and 'spider's web' make interesting features.

The two totems are now upright (Saturday 1st September). They look very impressive - really nice that they've got the date on them.

One has, among other things, a lovely owl and ivy and the other has a sunflower and a swallow - plus the children's names.

The Gardens were really busy with villagers dropping in to see the activities and have a chat - a great way for everyone to get to know each other.
This is the busiest these gardens have been since we don't know when. Lets hope this is the first of many activities held there.

On the days children took part in making bird and bug boxes, wood carving and helped to create a willow eco house. The occasion was voted a great success that benefited not only the children but the community as a whole.

A meeting was held at 7.00 pm on 2nd August 2010 in Llanteg Village Hall.

Present were:- Malcolm Brewin, Jill Chatwin, John James, Sue James and Andy Webb. Jessica Morgan from Planed.

Apologies:- Helen Baggott and John Baggott, Jeane Brewin, Rebekah Chatwin, Rob Chatwin and Ruth Webb.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

BBQ
It was decided to cancel the planned BBQ which was due to be held Saturday 3rd July, due to people being away, and the bad weather, and just hold the one event on Saturday 7th August. A few people have advised that they will not be able to make the event, John Lewis-Tunster, Andy and Ruth Webb. Radio Pembrokeshire have contacted for advertising the event. John Lewis-Tunster will drop off some bricks, so the disposable BBQs can be raised off the ground. John James will arrange with Calvin for a supply of water. Malcolm was to ask Peter from the Wanders Rest, if he can come, and bring his guitar.

The Old School Garden
We have received donation of plants from Crofty Nurseries and Jo from Rose Cottage. An acknowledgement letter was to be sent to thank them both. The 'Welcome' sign for the Old School Garden, still awaiting confirmation. A bench has been ordered, and Jill will be advised when it is ready, Autumn time.

Fund Raising
Jessica Morgan from Planed joined the meeting. She advised that following a hub meeting which was held in Saundersfoot, Planed had been in touch with Bronwyn Thomas regarding looking into enhancement of the surrounding areas. John James advised that he had had correspondence from her, but would not be able to attend, and Tony Brinsden would be attending. Jill will contact Tony, and advise the necessary people to meet Bronwyn. Jessica also advised that there might be funding available from Planed, and to contact them as soon as possible to submit a list of items that we would are looking into purchasing. Jesica advised that the funding available would need a 10% contribution from from us. Jessica was advised on the work that had been carried out in the Old School Garden and The Clay Pits. She also advised that they would be willing to help out at further events and look into projects, eg improving the entrance to the Claypits. Jessica also advised that they are also able to help out with support for posters and photocoping. John James thanked Jessica for her visit and all her help.
A discussion took place regarding items that we would like to purchase for 'The Old School Garden' and 'The Claypits'. Idea's include more benches, Sign's similar to the one at the memorial garden. A list to be drawn up and then submitted to Jessica at Planned.
With the offer of funding from Planed and the Lottery Funding, no letters have been sent to local businesses. The funding for PLANED to be completed first, then look into the Lottery Funding.

Community Walk
Amroth to Saundersfoot – Sunday 12th September at 2.00
Jill to contact Kiri to confirm that everything is OK for the planned walk, on Sunday 12th September. Jill to contact Ruth Roberts, to ask if she could design some posters, ready for the BBQ. Radio Pembrokeshire have been advised of the walk.
Further walks, with Kiri being busy during the summer, to wait till after the walk to discuss further events with her.

Claypits
John James thanked everyone that attended the working party to move the stones. The area has now been strimmed and would benefit from having some grass seed scattered over. It should be OK to sow the seed up to September. It was decided that field grass would be a better choice and look more natural rather than lawn grass seed. John James to enquire about purchasing the grass seed. When the grass seed had been purchased, volunteers would be needed to help rake over the area.

Events
Quiz and Bingo Night – October
A date has been set for the bingo and quiz night, Saturday 30th October 2010, at 7.00. Tickets to be £5.00 per person and food to be provided. John was asked for easier questions! Ruth Roberts to be asked to design a poster, and inform the papers.
Carol Service – December
Sue James to speak to Rev Sarah Greach regarding details and a date. Kevin Phelps to be asked if the children from Tavernspite school could be involved again.
Easter Sunday – April 24th from 2.00 till 5.00
Details to be arranged and funding to be sorted at a later date.
Jill had received an email from Planed, regarding holding an 'Wild Life on your Patch Event'. Planed have already planned their schedule for this year, but there is opportunity's to hold an event in either May or June next year. Jill will contact Planed and ask for more details.

Chairman’s Report
The Chairman paid tribute to Madaline Cole, who sadly passed away in January, and that she will be greatly missed by everybody.
The chairman thanked everyone for all their hard work during the year. The funding that was received from the Communities First Grant we were able to purchase new tools and a new shed, and a bench. The Chairman thanked Ruth Roberts for all her hard work over the year, and submitting all the press releases.

Events held over the year -
August – A walk from Llanteg to Amroth and back by Kiri Howells. We had to cancel the intended family afternoon and BBQ due to the bad weather.
December – The Carol service was well attended and the involvement of the local children, make it a very enjoyable event.
February – A very successful quiz and bingo night was held in the hall and raised £99.
May – Community Walk & Talk from Stepaside Iron Works to Wisemans Bridge lead again by Kiri Howells, and was very well attended, with about 40 people.

Community Walks
3rd May 2010 – A very successful walk was held on the bank holiday Monday, 3rd May. The event was attended by about 40 people and was very interesting. Kiri knowledge about the area and wildlife helped to make the event very enjoyable. Jill to write a letter of thanks to Kiri. Bob Cole enjoyed the walk,and took some photos and a write up and photo was send to the local paper.
12th September 2010 – Amroth to Stepaside. Awaiting arrangements with Kiri.
Walk to Marros to be looked into and Kiri to look into a walk from Amroth to Tenby.

The Old School Garden
John Tunster had been consulted about asking his Dad about making sign from wood for the entrance to the garden. The wording to be – ‘Welcome – The Old School Garden.’ It was agreed to purchase another bench for the garden with the proceeds from the Quiz and Bingo night, the same as the last one that Jill had purchased from where she worked. A quote has been obtained for the same price as the previous bench £90, and would be made when the weather is bad. John suggested getting some bedding to plant in the bank. A maintenance work party to be held on 28th June at 10.00 to tidy up and plant up the bank. It was suggested to ask Crofty Nursey, if they would donate any flowers for the garden. Another community group had placed a write up in the Tenby Observor, asking for spare plants, and had a good response, it was decided to ask Ruth R to add a comment to the press releases.

Claypits
The claypits are making progress, the JCB has moved the chipping to the edge and flattened them.
The Chairman has spoken to Alan from Trenewydd about acquiring some top soil. It was decided to hold a working party on Saturday 25th June, to clear the stones and rake over the ground.

Quiz & Bingo Night
It was decided to hold another quiz and bingo night, sometime in October, the date to be confirmed with John T. The price of the tickets to increase to £5.00 per person and inform everyone that they can bring their own drinks and food will be included in the price of the ticket.

Fund Raising
The petrol station has new owners, and it was suggested, that we enquire if they would allow to do any fund raising?
John Baggot produced a letter which his bowls team had used for fundraising. It was decided to write to The Petrol Station, Battlefield Live, Pendeilo Lesure Park, Wanders Rest, Crofty Garden Centre & Nerys fish export business and The Sporting Chance, Red Roses. The treasure to produce a letter for the next meeting.
Quotes to be obtained for putting on future events.
John James informed everyone that there was funding available via the Community Wildlife Fund –from the Big Lottery fund. A form had been down loaded from there site and will be looked into ready for the next meeting.

‘Wildlife on your patch’ Planed had informed us they had organised the events schedule for this year, will be in contact about the future events for the coming year. Jetske has left Planed and Rupert Dunn would be taking over from her. A letter of thanks had been send to Jeske for all her help and hard work.
Carol Service to be held in December, to be held joinly with Llanteg Village Hall committee. Sue James to speak to Rev Sarah Greach about dates and arrangements.. Jill raised the point that last year the carol service was on the same day as Saundersfoot market and it would be better if we could have it on a different day this year. Community Walks
3rd May 2010 - the Stepaside walk has been advertised in the local papers and on Radio Pembrokeshire and Ruth Roberts has updated the website. The walk is to start at 2.00, so it was suggested that we meet at 1.45. John James suggested that we meet in the lower car park. It was decided that it would be best to have someone in both car parks. Jill is to type up a note with the date of the next walk and our website on, also to bring a book to get name and email addresses of people attending.

The Old School Garden
Andy raised the question regarding sorting out the tools, and moving some to the garden.
John Lewis-Tunster had not been connected yet about asking his Dad about the wood for a sign for the garden. It was noticed that one of the bird boxes has had a dead bird in it.
It was agreed to purchase another bench for the garden with the proceeds from the Quiz and Bingo night, the same as the last one that Jill had purchased from where she worked. She would obtain a quote.

Claypits
John Baggott queried about having the Claypits rotavated, with all the chippings on!! He said that we would have to do it before the end of June or after the end of September or the soil would be too compacted.

Quiz & Bingo Night
The quiz and bingo night raised £99.00 and the evening was enjoyed by all that attended. It was suggested that John.T. could find some easier questions for next time! It was also suggested that we increase the price to £5.00 per person and inform everyone that they can bring their own drinks and also that food will be included in the price of the ticket.

Fund Raising
A cuddly toy giraffe was purchased for a ‘Guess the Name’ and Jill went down to Summerhill Farm Shop on Easter Sunday afternoon, and has left the toy there for now.
John Baggott informed everyone that his bowls team had been very successful in securing funding by writing to local businesses in the area. He suggested that we could do the same and write to some of the bigger companies in the area, eg. Mucro, New Power Station, Folly Farm, Bluestone etc. It was suggested contacting local businesses in the immediate area as well. Everyone to think of who we could write to for the next meeting and John will do a draft letter.

Matters Arising
The Chairman paid tribute to Madaline Cole, and for all the hard work and her commitment as secretary, following the sad news of her death. The treasurer said she had been in touch with the bank and a new mandate would need to be completed. We would also need another signature on the bankaccount. Andy Webb has volunteered.

Communty Walks
The Chairman thanked Kiri Howells (Ranger Pembrokeshire Coast National Park) for attending the meeting.
Stepaside walk. The provisional date of Sunday 25th of April was unsuitable, so it was decided to hold the walk on Monday 3rd May. The route is going to start at ‘The Iron Works’ Stepaside and use the new all purpose path to Wisemans’s Bridge. Kiri is going to walk the route and work out a circular route of about 2 to 3 miles. The walk is start at 2pm with a view to finish about 4pm.
Amroth – Wisemans Bridge walk. To be held on Sunday 12th September to start at 2pm. To meet at Amroth Beach by the flagpole. Route starting at Amroth and walk along the beach to Saundersfoot, coming back along the coastal path. Kiri was going to check the tide table and route.
Kiri stated that she would be able to compose posters for the walks and the Treasurer would contact Ruth Roberts to advertise on the village website and papers.
The sponsered/fundraising walk from Amroth to Tenby would be looked into for a later date. It was suggested also looking into doing a walk from Amroth to Marros maybe after Christmas.

Old School Garden
The spring on the gate is still not strong enough and Malcolm will look into replacing it with a bigger spring. The garden is looking lovely and tidy at the moment with some of the bulbs coming through. The weeds are under control at the moment, but a tidy-up day has been arranged for Tuesday 30th March at 10.00am. Jill had spoken to Sharon from Natural Creation, and she had said that a sign made from driftwood would not last outside. It was suggested that wood from another source be obtained, and then the sign could be engraved by her. A request to ask John Tunster to enquire with his Dad if he has any wood that could be used? Ruth Roberts had send an email regarding putting a note in the newsletter about the garden being open and that the community were welcome to go in and look around.

Claypits
The Chairman thanked everyone for their work. Malcolm to going to contact Roy is see what they want to do any more work clearing, before the shredder is brought down. John James to contact MrPlumb to make the arrangements for the shredder. It was decided to leave the top area to settle and see what develops. Next year to try to make another opening and work on clearing up in the middle.
A suggestion of planting Willow trees at the bottom would suit the boggy soil also some posts and railing were needed. Jill to enquire with the Woodland Trust and Caz from Marros Woods.

Quiz and Bingo Night
The Quiz and Bingo Evening on Saturday 27th February – posters had been made and distributed in the community and the papers and Radio Pembrokeshire has been contacted. It was decided to provide tea and coffee and squash and put on a small tea of sandwiches, crisps and sausage rolls cakes etc. Ruth Webb to provide the squash and serviettes. Everyone to provide a small contribution for the food, and to be at the hall for 2pm to set up ready for the evening. John James is going to contact John Tunster regarding finalising further details.

Last year we were planning on holding a BBQ, but this was cancelled due to the bad weather, to look into arranging another on later on in the year.

Carol Service and Senior Citizen's Party
The Chairman thanked everyone for their involvement in the Carol Service, and reported that everyone had enjoyed the service and thanked Sarah Geach for leading the service. Thanks were expressed to Kevin Phelps for his involvement organizing the children from Tavernspite school. The treasurer will send an email to both to thank them. It was suggested that we could check the dates for next time, because the Carol Service was held on the same day as Saundersfoot Christmas Market.

Old School Garden
Due to the bad weather no maintenance work had been undertaken. Malcoas been under taken due to the recent bad weather. John James stated that the ground would benefit from the use of a rotorvator. The chairman reported that the Probation service had been in touch, to enquire if we would like their assistant again, because there is not any heavy work that needed to be undertaken, the offer would be declined this time.

Village Walk
A provisional date of Sunday 25th of April was suggested and various routes were also discussed
Amroth to Marros, – Amroth to Wisemans Bridge - Stepaside to Wisemans Bridge
Jill would email Keri to check the available dates and routes with her. Helen stated that she could contact Tenby’s Steps to Heath, for a contact. A longer sponsored walk/fund raising walk (Amroth to Tenby) would be looked into to raise funds.

Quiz and Bingo Night
The original date of Saturday 9th January 2010, had to be cancelled due to the bad weather conditions. A new date of Saturday 27th February has been arranged. Ruth Roberts is to be asked if she could do a poster and send the information to the papers. It was decided that team to be a maximum of four people. A small prize is to be organised for the winning team, perhaps a bottle of wine?
The cost of entry was discussed, and a suggestion of £2.50 per head. It was decided that John James should speak to John Lewis-Tunster. Donations for small prizes would be welcome. The funds raised would go towards putting on another event in the village.

Carol Service and Senior Citizens Party
The carol service is to be held on Sunday 6th December at 2.30 pm and combined with the senior citizens’ party. Sarah Geach has organised the service and Joyce Lewis has been asked to play the organ. She has asked if she could come to the hall for a practice before hand. The organ needs to be moved before the event, and the room to be decorated. It was decided to meet at 10am in the morning to carry out all the jobs and prepare the room. It was decided that everyone bring a plate of food, to cater for the tea. The tea is to follow the carol service and the food is to be laid out in the side room. Ruth Roberts to be asked to contact the local papers and put on the web.
Old School Garden
Due to the bad weather no maintenance work has been undertaken. It was reported that the shed has a pane of glass that has broken. Malcolm will go down and check the damage. Andy report that he has engraved all the tools with a value over £10. It was decided to look into and decide about workshops in the new year. Sue James suggested that we have a sign in the garden. She had been down and talking to some residents and they did not realise that the garden was open to the public. A sign with ‘ALL WELCOME’ was suggested. J Chatwin to enquire with a friend. It was noted that the gate was being left open. Malcolm volunteered to fix a spring to the gate.
Claypits
The ground at the claypits is were wet at the moment, to be discussed in the new year.
Village Walk
It was decided to look into some suggest routes ready for the next meeting. It was agreed to contact Keri Howells from Pembrokeshire Coast National Park to see if she would be willing to help again in the future.

The treasurer had ordered a cuddly toy from Baker Ross for Guess the Name and was planning on having a stall at the bring and buy sale on Saturday 28th November. A cheque was requested for £12.99 to cover the cost.
Fund raising – The treasurer had been in touch with Ruth Roberts and she had advised that the history group had make necklaces in the past to raise funds. The items to make the necklaces had been purchases and Rebekah had made 18 necklaces and 10 keyrings. The necklaces and keyrings to be sold at the bring and buy and carol service. The necklaces to be sold for £2.50 each and the keyrings for £2.00.

Funds
A discussion took place about future possibilities of raising funds for further activities that the Association wished to consider. John James thanked all members for their hard work during the past twelve months.
It was agreed that further maintenance on the Old School Garden should be planned.
John Lewis Tunster informed the group that more tools for use in the Old School Garden were available from the closure of Crunwere Church. The security marking of tools was to be investigated. A noticeboard from the church closure had also been made available for the Old School Garden.
Village Walk.
The possibility of another village walk was to be discussed, a tentative date of December 27th was mentioned but it was agreed that it would probably take place in the Spring.
Carol Service and Senior Citizens Party.
The date for the combined Carol Service and the Senior Citizens Party has been agreed as Sunday 6th December 2009 at 14.30 hours in Llanteg Village Hall. Sarah Geach will lead the service – it will be followed by the Senior Citizens Party. All are welcome at both.
Claypits.
Work is progressing on the site. It is hoped to level and rotovate the top of the site shortly.

Matters Arising
Communities First Grant.
It was reported that a letter had been received by John James from Communities First in Cardiff. The letter informed the group that the ‘end of project’ statement would not be signed as further requirements had been requested.
■A receipt was required for £80.50 for the chippings for the garden.
■A cheque was requested for the underspend as outlined against the community bench £101.07
■Communities First have insisted that no authority was given for this expenditure.
The Secretary agreed to attend to these requirements.
Village Walk.
The Village Walk held on the 2nd August 2009 was voted a great success. The attendance of Kiri Howell Community Ranger for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and her knowledge and expertise had been invaluable. Kiri had been thanked for her participation and it had been suggested that a further walk in the Autumn or Spring should be planned.
Old School Garden.
It was reported that the tools purchased could not be covered by Amroth Community Council insurance. It was agreed to talk to other Community Associations as to their procedures.
Family Fun Afternoon.
The Family Fun Afternoon had been planned for Saturday 29th August.
After problems had been encountered with musicians and tutors and, after further discussion it was agreed to postpone the event.
Information would be put on the village website and in local newspapers.
Carol Service/Senior Citizens Christmas Party.
Sue James informed the group that it had been decided to combine the annual Carol Service and the Senior Citizens Christmas Party, both held in the Village Hall.
A provisional date has been set for the 6th December at 2.30.pm. It was agreed to inform Kevin Phelps, Tavernspite School, and invite children to participate as last year.
Claypits.
Further work had taken place at the top end of the site this should be finished in September.

Communities First.
It was reported that the return of the required paperwork to Communities First in Cardiff was in hand. Tools had been purchased. A bench for the garden had still to be agreed upon. Andy was thanked by all for his hard work.
Village Walk.
The final details on the village walk planned for Sunday August 2nd were discussed. It was agreed that the walk was to commence at the Old School Garden at 11 0’ clock. Led by Kiri Howell the route would take Trelessy Lane towards Amroth. After a lunch break the return would be via Colby Woodland Garden to Llanteg. Posters and publicity had been produced and information was to be circulated throughout the area.
Family Fun Afternoon.
A discussion took place about the Family Fun Afternoon to be held on Saturday 29th August. Arrangements were made for the provision of gazebos and chairs in the event of bad weather. (Since the last meeting problems have been experienced in arranging music/tutors for the Fun Afternoon so it has been decided to just go ahead with a Family ‘do it yourself’ barbeque late afternoon on the 29th August. Posters will be produced to publicise this.)
Carol Service.
It was agreed to combine the annual Carol Service with the annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party. A provisional date for this event has been set for December 6th at 2.30pm in Llanteg Village Hall. The Rev Sarah Geach has agreed to lead the community service. Sue was thanked for her hard work in arranging this.
The date of the next meeting was arranged for Monday 24th August at 7 0’ clock.

Village walk.
In attendance for the first part of the meeting was Kiri Howell, South Community Ranger, from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Kiri was introduced to the group by John James and she gave a presentation about her role and projects to date that she has been involved in. These projects included the development of educational projects and also history/nature walks with local communities. The possibility of a ‘village walk’ in the local area involving the National Park was discussed. All attending the meeting were enthusiastic about the suggestion, it was agreed to set a provisional date of Sunday August 2nd 2009. The group were informed that PLANED could help launch the walk and provide publicity in the form of posters and inclusion of details in the local press. It was agreed that members of the group would discuss details of the planned route and historic content at the next meeting. John James thanked Kiri on behalf of the group.
Environmental Youth Workshops
John James thanked the group for the team effort and hard work during the two days of the event. Twenty-two children had participated in the workshops. The tutors for the event had proved excellent and evoked a great deal of interest from the children attending. All children participating in the event had been presented with a certificate. The coverage by the Tenby Observer was declared to be excellent and Helen was given thanks for arranging it.
It was announced that the proposed shed for the Old School Garden had arrived and Malcolm and Andy were thanked for their hard work.
Communities First Grant.
Details to date of the Communities First grant were discussed and a balance of remaining monies was given. As the project expenditure details have to be returned to Communities First in Cardiff by the end of July, the remaining requirements i.e. purchase of small tools will be finalised at the next meeting.
Further events to be held at the Old School Garden were discussed. It was agreed to hold a ‘Family Afternoon’ on Saturday 29th August 2009 followed by a barbeque in the early evening. Activities for the afternoon would include country crafts, bird and tree identification weaving and spinning and basic cooking.
It was reported that there were eggs in some of the new bird boxes in the Garden.
The group agreed that further funding for future activities should be sought as soon as possible.
Claypits.
Further work had taken place at the Claypits but more topsoil was needed. Every one was asked to be aware of local people who had surplus that could be used at the site.

Matters arising.
Easter Workshops. A discussion took place about the proposed workshops to be held on 16th and 17th April 2009 in the Old School Garden. The Secretary has formally contacted the suggested tutors asking for their availability and quotations for their involvement. It is hoped to give further information and a planned timetable at the next meeting.
The question of insurance for the event was discussed. It was suggested that advice and potential help should be sought from the Amroth Community Council as the Old School Garden is community land. As the next planned meeting of the council would not take place until February the matter of insurance and publicity was also to be discussed with PLANED.
It was also agreed at the meeting that action should be taken on the planned purchase of the shed and tools for the Old School Garden as per the terms of the grant. This was to be discussed more fully at the next meeting.Carol Service.
It was agreed that the Carol Service held on 7th December 2008 had been a success. A discussion took place about the plans for Christmas 2009. Suggestions included a Christmas Fair perhaps incorporating the carol service and the senior citizens party. It was agreed to try and encourage more members of the community to participate in the activities held in the Village Hall.

Easter Workshops.
A discussion took place about the workshops to be held on 16th and 17th April 2009 in the Old School Garden.
It was agreed that the Secretary should formally request quotations from suggested tutors and contacts in order to plan the activities to take place. To date a quotation had been received from a tutor from Saundersfoot who can provide a workshop involving spinning. Contact has also been made with The Woodland Co-op from Marros who have agreed to be involved. Dave Welton one of the tutors from last years workshop was also to be approached. It was suggested that the workshop with him could involve a sign for the garden and perhaps a rustic seat. It was agreed that a structured timetable should be planned early in the New Year as soon as possible.
The question of necessary insurance for the workshops was discussed and advice is to be sought from The Princes Trust who provided support and publicity last year.
It was reported that the tables and chairs available last year could possibly be used again but at present the Hall was having storage problems and the items were stored away from the Hall. Further discussion will be needed as to the actual requirements of the workshops including cover in the event of bad weather. It was also suggested that a family barbeque could be held on the final afternoon of the event.
It was agreed that at the next meeting the provision of the planned shed and equipment should be finalised in line with the requirements of the grant. Attention has to be given to the provision of a base for the shed. Possibilities of a gift of the materials from a local source were to be investigated.
Clay Pits.
There had been no further developments on the clearing of the Claypits, but it was reported that volunteers may be available in the New Year through arrangement with the Probation Service.
Carol Service.
The arrangements for the Carol Service to be held on 7th December 2008 in the village hall were discussed. The Reverend Sarah Geach had agreed to lead the service. Details were to be given to Tavernspite School and it was hoped that some local children would be involved. Refreshments would be provided afterwards.
Treasurers Report.
The treasurer gave a statement of existing finance and it was agreed to open an account that would provide interest on monies held.

Proposed workshope were discussed for 2009 – probably taking place at Easter with possible bird watching sessions. Kevin Phelps had kindly collected suggestions for events from his pupils at Tavernspite School.
Community B.B.Q.
This was held at the Old School Gardens on Friday 22nd August 2008. We were lucky to actually have a sunny afternoon and evening.
Community First Grant Workshops provisionally planned for 16th & 17th April 2009. The group were inf avour of a musical entertainer for at least one of the days.
It was agreed to discuss the purchase of a shed and garden equipment at the next meeting.

10th July 2008

A meeting was held at The Downs when the survey (completed by Bethan Cox of Pembs County Council) of the Claypits was discussed. A detailed 5 yr plan was put forward in the report but the community could implement as much or as little as they wished.
The Community Association was pleased to announce that a grant of £1181.76 had been received for work and tools for the Old School Gardens, plus children’s workshops which are hoped to be held next Easter.
As well as a Family B.B.Q to be held on 22nd August the Association are also planning a Family Carol Service for December.

A.G.M. – 23rd June 2008

The committee officials were all re-elected.
Old School Garden.
Concerning the suspected damage to the totem poles in the garden, Dave Welton (the tutor from last years workshop) had contacted John James to confirm that the discolouring on the poles was not fire damage but possibly caused by the previous use of the wood, probably wire staples. It was agreed to contact Dave Welton about further weather protectionsealant for the poles.

Workshops 2008?
Discussion took place about the activities planned and it was agreed to contact local schools and include children’s views in the early planning stage. It was suggested that a questionnaire could be circulated locally.
Further funding bids/Claypits.
A meeting had taken place on June 16th at the Claypits site. Present were:- John James, Madeline Cole and representatives from The National Trust, PLANED and Keep Wales Tidy. The meeting was very positive and funding for the clearance and development of the site was discussed.
It was agreed that a survey should be undertaken of the site.
